Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
