Music icon Susan Boyle has expressed she was "deeply moving" to learn that Hollywood star Timothée Chalamet named her among one of his most admired UK figures.
The US actor named the internationally beloved artist alongside other luminaries such as seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, fashion and football power couple David and Victoria Beckham, and underground rapper Fakemink.
"She aspired higher than anyone," he said, speaking about her seminal 2009 Britain's Got Talent show-stopping rendition of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Misérables. "It moved everyone who saw it."
Reacting to the comments, Boyle stated she was "immensely grateful," continuing: "The beginning of that journey was remarkable, and to know that audition resonated to you all these years on truly humbles me."
Boyle went on to say: "Each journey has a first step, with a dream and a bit of hope, don't we? We should all dream big!
"May you find continued triumph as you continue to dream. Thank you for your generous words and for cherishing that memory. With love, Susan."
A Unique Marketing Effort
Chalamet's remarks came while he was discussing his latest project Marty Supreme. The film's associated marketing has involved him presenting branded jackets to individuals he admires he judges to be genuine legends.
Those honored have so far included singer Frank Ocean, former NFL player Tom Brady, and Barcelona's Spanish wunderkind Lamine Yamal.
An Unlikely but Fitting Choice
Boyle's inclusion was seen by many as an unexpected pick when the award-winning actor was prompted which British personalities he would deem worthy.
It is worth noting that Chalamet was just a teenager when Boyle shot to fame after astonishing viewers and judges with her performance for Britain's Got Talent, a clip which rapidly spread online.
"That memory is etched in my mind," the actor reflected. "It coincided with the dawn of viral video, you know."
