Fatal Passenger Vehicle Accident in North-eastern the Brazilian Northeast Claims 15 Fatalities
An intercity passenger coach traveling through northeastern Brazil was involved in a grave crash, resulting in 15 individuals dead, as stated by regional officials.
Details of the Crash
The vehicle was carrying approximately thirty passengers when it veered off and slammed into a sandbank, leading it to roll over. How many injured passengers taken to local hospitals remains not yet confirmed.
The journey originated in the state of Bahia and ended tragically in the city of Saloá, located in the neighbouring area of Pernambuco.
How It Happened
Preliminary information suggest that the driver lost control of the bus, crossing into the oncoming traffic lane and hitting boulders on the shoulder. Subsequently, the driver got back into the correct lane but then crashed into a sandbank, causing the bus to flip over.
The reason behind the accident is presently being looked into. The operator sustained minor injuries and tested negative for alcohol consumption.
Response and Assistance
The governor expressed that the government is offering support for the rescue operation and victim identification. In a statement, "We are closely monitoring the incident and deeply mourn the fatalities, the harm and the suffering of all the affected families."

Last September, a bus carrying a sports team flipped on a highway, causing 3 deaths.
