Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.
A senior political figure said the incident made him without words and had to be resolved promptly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on online, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
