According to data released by Israel, no fewer than 98 Palestinians have perished during detention since October 2023. A rights monitoring body located in Israel has stated that the actual figure is almost certainly considerably greater, due to numerous of missing individuals in Gaza.

“As long as these policies continue to be enforced, all Palestinian detainees in confinement is at peril, including the healthy ones, even the young ones who have no medical issues.”

Notable Incidents

Certain fatalities in custody have been high profile, such as a 50-year-old healthcare leader who died in prison after 120 days in confinement.

An inmate detained alongside the deceased testified that he was brought to the exercise area by guards just prior to his demise, visibly injured and unclothed from the waist down. His body remains unreleased to Gaza.

Additional detainees who perished in Israeli custody stay unnamed. Correctional authorities and defense forces gave investigators with the figure of casualties in detention, and basic further data including the facility where they died, but not the prisoners’ names.

Documentation Problems
